SO IAM started his rap journey as a joke, handing out flyers for a debut album that didn’t exist during high school. In college, after tearing his ACL, he took rap more seriously, using it as an outlet while sinking deeper into a reckless party lifestyle. During this period, he became a fixture in Arizona’s underground hip hop scene as a rapper and producer, releasing independent projects, producing for artists like Knoc-turn'al (Mathmadix), and opening for legends like Camp Lo. He also collaborated with Scary Kids Scaring Kids on their Punk Goes Crunk cover of “Notorious Thugs,” which charted at #86 on the Billboard 200.
After years of straying from his childhood calling, God led him back, reigniting his purpose to share a powerful story of redemption. Embracing his role as a "prodigal prophet" sent to wake a spiritually sleeping generation, SO IAM returns with his comeback song Last Friday and his upcoming EP, Prodigal Prophet, blending humor and raw truth. His music, influenced by Redman, Ludacris, Eminem, and The Neptunes, combines syllable bending, lyricism, and hard-hitting minimalist beats, offering listeners a path back to God’s grace and the purpose He has for them.
