SO IAM started recording raps in his dorm room during his freshman year at ASU—at the height of its notorious party reputation. Fully immersed in the lifestyle, he used rap as an outlet but soon fell deeper into the scene. After tearing his ACL, he turned to rap more seriously, eventually dropping out to pursue music full-time. SO IAM became a fixture in AZ’s hip-hop scene as a rapper & producer, releasing projects, producing for Knoc-turn’al, & opening for Camp Lo. His 2007 SKSK collab on Punk Goes Crunk's “Notorious Thugs” album has 1.1M+ streams.
In 2008, after years of heavy drinking, drug use, and reckless decisions, God brought SO IAM back to faith, reigniting his mission of redemption & sharing Kingdom truth. He released CHH projects (357, S.O.I.A.M.), known for freestyle skill & unique cadence; his single was also named “Track of the Week” by DJ Cut Creator. By 2010, he stepped away for stability in corporate life but kept producing (MTV; tracks w/ G. Malone, M. Murk, C. Mac).
Now, “prodigal prophet” SO IAM returns, called to wake a generation. "Last Friday" (15k+ streams) shared redemption themes discussed during his Trackstarz interview and Its remix was a Rapzilla 'Submission of the Week. His EP The Call has his signature distorted, sample-driven sound (Neptunes/Timbaland/Bad Boy inspired). Lead single "Shine" is a Bollywood-sampled anthem sampling Mohra’s "Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast," inspired mainly by his life story—urging all to overcome & shine.
